One of the best ways to reach a community is through social media – and with Gearbox, we had the opportunity to engage a wide variety of players.

Whether it was the chaos of Risk of Rain, the deep lore of Homeworld, or the passion of the broader community for Gearbox Official, our content and strategy always strived to reflect what brought the players to these accounts in the first place.

RISK OF RAIN 2

We joined the passionate Risk of Rain community on the eve of its first DLC launch: Survivors of the Void. The game was already a huge success but the community was hesitant about Gearbox's growing involvement.

As new stewards of this incredible community - we sought to garner goodwill by focusing on just making cool stuff that its players would enjoy. From a "Tournament of Survivors" to some wilder ideas that never quite saw the light of day, we sought to entertain and inform.

HOMEWORLD 3 & MOBILE

Homeworld was a long dormant brand before Gearbox and Blackbird Interactive took up the mantle of growing its legacy. We joined early on in the Homeworld 3 & Homeworld Mobile campaigns, working to reveal more about the game while remembering its roots.

Our approach was to feature the lore and narrative of the series front and center. The events of this series, paired with an iconic soundtrack, helped keep the community for this series alive beyond the 1990s, and we sought to honor that legacy.

GEARBOX OFFICIAL & LOOT

The official Gearbox Entertainment social account also saw our support. We worked to highlight game announcements, live PAX & Gamescom event support, and to help grow a brand new in-house merch effort: Gearbox Loot.

While our focus was primarily Gearbox Publishing titles, we also wound up supporting both the Borderlands and Wonderlands brands during major launches and events.
