KICKSTARTER & COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN
Studio Camelia | ICO Partners
The campaign for ALZARA: Radiant Echoes focused on approaching our community as a JRPG fan.
By highlighting the passion for the genre from the team and anticipating community needs, our approach was authenticity and transparency.
Communications & Updates
Through over a dozen Kickstarter updates, Steam posts, Discord announcements, and newsletters - we got the word out there. The campaign kept up a steady pace of updates, contests, deep dives, and community-focused content to promote the game, grow our audience, and engage our growing community from day one.
Community Management
A good Kickstarter campaign is supported by word of mouth & a grassroots approach, and we encouraged those interested in the game to engage.
A carefully crafted Discord that encouraged appreciate for the JRPG genre, social goals that rewarded community growth, and fandom engagement with initiatives like personality quizzes, playlists, and character AUs placed the passion for the genre from the team at the forefront and brought in like-minded fans.
Social Media & graphic design
With a game so full of colour and life, our approach to media & design had to reflect the beauty of the world of Alzara. We worked closely with the team to ensure the visual style of the game was reflected through digital assets, often directly pulling from game UI to maintain this consistency.
A cohesive approach helped to surface the professionalism & passion of Studio Camelia to the campaign.

A Turn-Based CampaigN
A community-focused campaign always feels a bit like doing turn-based combat.
You lay out your plan ahead of time based on past experience, you research what the audience will react to, and you watch for feedback on your approach while adjusting your strategy on the fly. You also watch for those big telegraphed attacks that will take out your whole party,
The metaphor got away there in the end but ultimately we worked closely with the dev team to align our tone & strategy, developed an extensive plan that covered a variety of platforms and audiences, and we created space to adjust our approach in real time.

JRPG Fandom
With inspirations like Golden Sun & Lost Odyssey, and with a collaboration with the incredible
Motoi Sakuraba - we knew that those who once spent a summer cross-legged in front a TV trying to beat *insert JRPG boss here* would be our core audience.
We took an authentic approach to our own community and celebrated our influences, highlighted fellow indies, and engaged with our audience in a language they would be familiar with.
It also always helps to have some fun with a campaign,
